At least one person died after after an explosive fire ripped through the detached garage of a Los Angeles home early Saturday morning, officials confirmed.
Authorities had originally said an individual was possibly missing.
The incident unfolded in the 2400 block of 9th Avenue in Jefferson Park at 5:35 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department stated. Responding crews found the garage fully involved with fire.
Explosions were also heard, LAFD said in an emergency alert, and video posted to the Citizen App shows fireworks going off as smoke billowed into the morning sky.
Firefighters were eventually able to extinguish the blaze by 5:52 a.m., according to LAFD, who added that a 30-year-old woman was being evaluated by first responders for an unknown injury.
Officials later requested an arson unit, a cadaver dog and a public information officer be dispatched to the area for a possible missing person.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson later told KTLA that one person was confirmed to have died in the incident, and another two people sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are expected to remain in the area for several hours on Saturday for the investigation.
