This article shares the journey of Killas Givens, who was only 35 years old when he reached a weight of 727 lbs. He had a wife and three daughters, and he no longer wanted to feel like a burden to the people who depended on him most.
Killas came to realize that his weight was seriously damaging both his marriage to Jessica and his day-to-day life. Instead of accepting that reality, he decided he had to take action and change his future.
For nearly two and a half years, Killas was bedridden because of his size, relying on his wife for full-time care. Even so, their love for each other remained strong. They had met when Killas was already obese, but the situation still placed an enormous strain on their lives.
Determined to turn things around, Killas joined a reality show called “I Weigh 727 lbs” in hopes of losing weight. When he visited a doctor, his condition was described as extremely serious, and the doctor warned that he could have died if he had not taken action. In that sense, being part of the show played a direct role in saving his life.
In the first month of the program, Killas lost around 154 lbs and even learned to walk again. Soon after, he underwent surgery to reduce the size of his stomach, which helped accelerate his weight loss even further.
Within one year, he had lost 418 lbs. After a year and a half, his total loss reached an astonishing 462 lbs.
After shedding such a significant amount of weight, Killas later had surgery to remove excess skin. Today, he has returned to living a full life. He has taken on three times the responsibilities at work and is once again able to provide for his family.
